The Wineinger ABCs of 2016
Adventure– Adventure is an UNDERSTATEMENT for the year. I think we choose to call it that, because when other people look at us, they just call us CRAZY! Here’s just some of the stuff we did…
Bright Futures– Ruthie started ½ Day Preschool 5 days a week called Bright Futures and LOVES it! She’s got new friends & the way it’s set up, they learn at stations. To them, it’s like playing the WHOLE time, but she’s really playing on purpose with a end lesson in mind. LOVE IT!
Country Feed– Nathan & Lindsay took a leap of faith and bought a Animal Feed store in Princeville. What a 10-folded BLESSING! So much room for growth & EXTREMELY family friendly. God is good.
Duck & Goose Hunting– Nathan’s FAVORITE past time…Lindsay’s least favorite thing to cook.
Esther/Eggs– Esther the chicken & 40 of her closest chicken friends joined the Wineinger Farms this fall. They actually just started laying eggs last week!!
Fishing– Nathan had a GREAT trip this spring where he got to hand-fish/noodle/hog or whatever you want to call it. The fish he caught was about 30 lbs!
Grandparents– This year, we could not have done ANYTHING without TONS of help from our parents. Gigi & Papa Mark (Davis) are great for weekend adventures with amazing toys and Jack the cat, and Nana & Grampa Steve (Wineinger) help out during the week for pickup from daycare/preschool and Wednesday adventures with Nana before church PLUS that’s where the cows & chickens are. Tessa loves going out and getting cow kisses (yes, they lick her hands…kind of gross but sooo cute)
Hogs– The Wineingers have ventured into the hog business. Only 2 pigs, but were excited for something new. Their names were Oscar (Meyer) & Slim (Jim).
Inked– Lindsay got another tattoo. Crazy kid.
Jesus– He’s kind of a BIG DEAL that made everything possible this year. The girls favorite part of the week is Sundays & Wednesday nights. His Blessings & Mercies are UNREAL!
Kittens– we acquired two new mouser kittens at the house this year; Mona & Charlotte. Forrest has been promoted to the Shop Cat and works with Lindsay at the Feed Store.
Lindsay– Works mornings at the feed store then stay-at-home mom in the afternoon. I’m loving that the girls see hard work and that I am a bigger part of their lives every day.
Mary Kay– Lindsay’s had a very successful year growing her Mary Kay business. Goal for next year — Company Car!
Nathan– Works mornings at Wineinger & Sons then works the afternoon shift at the feed store. Nathan has been a HUGE part of store growth through visiting local farms & building relationships with EVERYONE! We are currently praying like crazy that next year maybe (just maybe) we can feed the Peoria Zoo! WHAT?!?! How awesome!
Overseas– Lindsay had the opportunity to travel overseas and visit her friend, Tricia, in Athens, Greece this fall! Amazing trip with a weekend in Santorini — Breath-taking!
Princeville– Wineinger Headquarters! Our shop is literally at the main 4 corner stop in Princeville.
Quit my Job– This was a HARD thing to do for both Nathan & me. I resigned as the athletic secretary at Dunlap High School & Nathan went part time with the family landscaping business & had to resign as the head JV Football coach at Princeville in order to allow enough time for the store to work. Hard but necessary.
Ruthie– This 4 year old “Princess” keeps us on our toes! We have hit FULL Barbie mode. She would watch YouTube all day & and take turns sleeping at each grandparents house if I let her….in her tutu, with her crown on, and in some form of sparkly shoe.
Starbucks– FUEL FOR MY SOUL
Tessa– Tessa the 2-year-old is our outdoorsy farm girl who gets everything she want by smiling at you. She has the same vocabulary as Ruthie. So much words out of such a small human.
Uncles– Uncles Bubba, Jakey & D are our girls’ world! Best incentive for eating all their dinner, being nice to each other…seeing the animals…beside the fact that the are HEAD OVER HEELS for the girls. Tessa has also budded a new love for Uncle Daniel…sooo sweet!
Volunteer– Nathan had to resign from being the Head JV Football coach, but he still got to volunteer coach with the team. Hard to believe we’ve been doing it for 4 years. A fall wouldn’t be complete without some high school football.
Weddings– We added LOTS of family this year with Aunt Ashley getting married in February to (now) Uncle Daniel Monahan
& Uncle Jake getting married to (now) Aunt Karen.
Jake & Karen’s wedding was a highlight for Ruthie because she was the flower girl. She asked if she could get married again later. 🙂
X-citing– (Did I misspell that??) This is an UNDERSTATEMENT for this year in buying a new business, adding aunts & uncles, acquiring 40 chickens, 2 pigs, unfortunately losing our pup Hummer. But God is so good & we’ve discovered it best to look at these new opportunities as adventures…less stress that way.
Youth– I’ve had to step back from helping out with the youth since taking over the store, but after our youth minister retired, I had the privilege of being a part of the search committee to find our new youth & singles minister. It was a LONG process (over a year), but we found and hired our new guy just within these last two weeks. We are really excited about the Fathauer Family coming to Peoria.
Zero- number of regrets about the year…or number of spare hours we’ve had. You choose.
We most definitely wish you & yours a VERY Happy Christmas & New Years! We are excited to see what unfolds this 2017! May yours be filled with love, family, faith & oh so much adventure!
Nate, Linz, Rue & Tess
